Internet
streaming media are becoming more and more popular as a source of audio
and video content. Improvements in technology and the rapid adoption of
broadband access have combined to make "Web broadcasting" practical.
Today, the major media player programs such as Winamp
and Windows Media Player provide good support for receiving these
broadcasts. However, they don't support recording of the
broadcasts. MediaRecorder fills this gap while working with your
favorite media player program.
Open formats (such as mp3 and mpeg) and Winamp formats (nsv, nsa)
broadcast over http are currently supported. Additional
formats, including those specific to Windows Media Player and
RealNetworks RealPlayer are being investigated. Streams in any format may
be proprietary or licensed.
